The Project
An introduction of the client and our deliverablesHigh-Level Summary
ePlanner is a sophisticated geospatial platform developed by the
Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to help government agencies
and city planners simulate, test, and envision new developments
across Singapore’s landscape. With its diverse modules — such as
Site Simulation, Wind Analysis, and Urban Synth — the platform
required strong design leadership to simplify complex workflows,
introduce design governance, and align teams around a unified
experience.
I worked with the Design & Digital Planning Lab to make the
platform more usable, consistent, and scalable — by establishing a
unified Design Language System, improving key workflows, and
introducing user research practices that directly shaped the
product roadmap.
My Contributions and Outcomes
My work focused on strengthening ePlanner’s design foundation through system-level improvements, user research, and collaborative design delivery. These efforts led to a more consistent interface, clearer workflows, and a roadmap informed by real user insights.
Design Language System
Established and evolved the Design Language System (DLS) — documented components, design tokens, and interaction patterns to bring consistency across all ePlanner tools.User Research and Testing
Led multiple user research and testing sessions for features such as Local Traffic Simulation, Cloud Dashboard, and Site Simulation — uncovering key insights that reshaped the product roadmap.UI/UX Design and Prototyping
Designed and prototyped new workflows for the RBAC Access Management Dashboard, helping product managers and developers align on user needs and system logic.Design and Product Management
Introduced design operations and collaboration practices — from structured design reviews to shared documentation — strengthening team efficiency and design quality.Key ePlanner Screens
I've done a lot over the past year, here are some key screens!Brand new home page!
To help orientate users to ePlanner, I introduced a home page which allows them to access their recent and commonly used works. There is also a resource section for users to seek help for more complicated tools or new features.
Updating the map UI
The old ePlanner did not have a unified UI, and the was a lack of consistency in the interaction across various tools. I helped to establish new interaction pattersn that can be applied throughout the platform, and helped to update the new UI to be sleek and modern.
User Research and Testing
Validating hypothesis and product roadmapsMy impact
While there was some user testing done by the internal team
previously, there was no formalised process and quantitative way
to properly capture the feedback they received.
I thus helped to formalise the User Testing process within URA
through the establishment of UX research frameworks that better
quantified and captured key user feedback. The frameworks could be
customised to fit the team's need.
